eHealthWA
Implementation of many recommendations from the Health Reform Committee’s final report require the development of technical infrastructure and ICT systems. These information and technology initiatives aim to improve the delivery of health care and are collectively called the eHealth program.
Fiona Stanley Hospital Development
Planning is underway for the construction of the Fiona Stanley Hospital in Murdoch. The new $1.1 billion, state-of-the-art tertiary hospital will be Western Australia’s flagship health facility, offering first-rate health care services to communities in the south of Perth and across the state.
Construction of the 643-bed hospital is due to be completed in 2012. Named after eminent Western Australian doctor and Australian of the Year, Professor Fiona Stanley, the new hospital will provide high-level medical and teaching facilities and offer a wide range of health services.
Foundations for Country Health Services
The WA Country Health Service has compiled the Foundations for Country Health Services document that is their strategic plan for 2007-2010 and sets out WA Health’s reform agenda for strengthening services across country Western Australia.
Health Networks
Health Networks are groups of interested people and organisations including health professionals, consumers, carer, policy makers and others, coming together to discuss, debate, plan and develop health policy and services across WA. Health Networks in WA resulted from a recommendation by the Health Reform Implementation Taskforce to enable "a new focus across all clinical disciplines toward prevention of illness and injury and maintenance of health".
Healthview Magazine
Healthview is WA Health’s quarterly magazine with articles and information from across the public health system.
Healthy@Home
Healthy@Home is WA Health’s community-based services (often called ambulatory care) that help patients manage their health, maintain their independence, and stay out of hospital. The services provided help prevent people from unnecessarily entering hospital and assist people exiting hospital sooner. It involves doctors, specialists and allied health professionals and usually, this care takes place at the patient’s home, in the community or in another setting such as a doctor’s clinic.
Office of Safety and Quality
This website provides access to policies and programs to support the establishment of effective systems and processes that will foster a culture of continuous improvement, and ensure individual and organisational accountability for the provision of safe, high quality health care.
Patient First Program
Patient First is a program designed to educate health consumers about the health care process and potential problems that can occur with their health care, so that they can be a more active, involved and informed participants. The intent of such education is to reduce medical errors during a patient’s care.
State Health Research Advisory Council
Recommended by the Report of the Health Reform Committee, the State Health Research Advisory Council was established to provide advice to the Department of Health and the Minister for Health on strategic directions and policies for health and medical research and development at a statewide level.
