Delivering improvement in WA Health involves the whole system, community partners and other government and non-government agencies working together to drive transformation for improved access and standards of care for patients.
The Health System Improvement Unit (HSIU) was established in early 2009 and continues to undertake the innovation and health system improvement functions previously managed by the Health Reform Implementation Taskforce.
HSIU is involved in implementation and the continuous development of the reform program and works with other divisions within WA Health and community partners to deliver service improvements and programs that will provide better patient care.
The integration of the reform program into the core business of WA Health is regarded as a key success factor to the achievement of reform outcomes. HSIU provides support directly to sites to assist them with reform, process improvement and service change programs.
HSIU also directly manages a number of clinical change initiatives and reform projects aimed at improving health service delivery locally and state wide.
HSIU is located in WA Health’s Innovation and Health System Reform division.
