Elective Surgery and Outpatient Reporting

This page contains reports which provide information about the number of persons on elective surgery wait lists (ESWLs) that are maintained by public hospitals in Western Australia (WA).

Only the three most recent ESWL reports are listed, as each report contains a historical breakdown for monthly data published in earlier reports. Older published monthly reports have been archived and may be retrieved on request. As quarterly reporting has been introduced recently, the last six published reports are listed on the website.

Quarterly ESWL reports

These reports provide quarterly information about the total number of cases, admissions and duration of time on ESWLs at public hospitals in WA as part of a national scheme to reduce the number of people on wait lists. The reports include details of admissions from wait lists according to specialty and procedure broken down by individual public hospitals in the Perth metropolitan area and for WA Country Health Service (WACHS) region as a whole.

To access similar quarterly reports from other states and territories, go to the Commonwealth Government's Elective Surgery Waiting List Reduction Plan (external website).

Monthly ESWL reports

These reports provide monthly information about the total number of persons and duration of time on ESWLs at public hospitals in the Perth metropolitan area (including the Joondalup Health Campus and the Peel Health Campus), as well as for the WACHS, broken down by category of severity and length of time on the wait list.

Monthly ASI reports

These reports provide monthly information about the number of ambulatory surgery initiative (ASI) cases undertaken at metropolitan and WACHS hospitals, to enable doctors to do additional work in hospitals with public services to improve patient access to minor procedures.

Outpatient activity reporting

Quarterly reporting of activity services commenced with the release of the March 2009 quarter, providing summary information about attendances at clinics operating at metropolitan teaching hospitals.

The report contains a quarterly summary data from the March 2007 quarter in relation to counts of attendances at first, new and follow up appointments, as well as did not attend (DNA) appointments. In addition to summary information concerning waiting time, there is also a detailed breakdown by specialty provided for each hospital.
