National Women-Held Pregnancy Record
In 2014, WA Health agreed to implement the National Women Held Pregnancy Record (NWHPR) that was endorsed by Australian Health Ministers in January 2013. Following twelve months of use within maternity services, the NWHPR has undergone extensive review.
A nationally consistent client held pregnancy record, for use by all Australian women will ensure reduction in local variations in service and practice. Women can move between different jurisdictions and professionals during their pregnancy; taking their records with them ensuring the history taking process is not repeated with each new health professional. This promotes improved communication and improved risk management in maternity care provision.
The revised NWHPR will the replace the existing NWHPR and other Health Service records effective 15 May 2015.
